Move your number from AT&T to Tonet
Get your AT&T Number Transfer PIN (port-out PIN) for a personal or business account, turn off Wireless Account Lock, and move your number to Tonet.
To move an AT&T wireless number to Tonet, you need your AT&T account number and a Number Transfer PIN. The PIN lasts 4 days on a personal account and 14 days on a business account, so get it just before you submit. Then fill in Manage › Phones › Port a Number in Tonet. Keep your AT&T service active until the number has moved.
What you need from AT&T
| You need | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Account number | In your AT&T online account, under Welcome back on the account overview, or under Account info in your profile. On your bill, it's under the page number or issue date on any page. You can also dial 611 from your AT&T phone. |
| Number Transfer PIN | AT&T's name for a port-out PIN. See Get your AT&T Number Transfer PIN. |
| Account holder's name and address | Your latest AT&T bill. Copy them exactly as AT&T has them. |
| Your latest bill | It must show the numbers you're moving. You attach it in Tonet. |
Get your AT&T Number Transfer PIN
On a personal account, only people with primary online access to the account can get the PIN online or in the app.
- Online: go to your account profile, select Settings, scroll to Transfer phone number, and select Request new PIN. The PIN shows on screen.
- AT&T app: tap your profile icon, then Settings. Select Manage or remove account, tap Settings, scroll to Transfer phone number, and select Request new PIN.
- From your AT&T phone: call
*PORTand follow the prompts. You need your account passcode. AT&T texts you the PIN.
Good to know:
- One PIN covers every number on the account.
- Asking for a new PIN cancels the old ones. If you already submitted your port, send Tonet the new PIN.
- Give Tonet the Number Transfer PIN, not your AT&T account passcode.
- If your account is suspended, get the PIN online or in the app. It can't be sent by text.
Get a PIN for an AT&T business account
On a business account, only the primary user can get the PIN, and it lasts longer.
| Personal account | Business account | |
|---|---|---|
| Who can get the PIN | People with primary online access | Only the account's primary user |
| How | Online, the AT&T app, or *PORT | Online, or contact AT&T and a rep emails the PIN to you. The app and *PORT don't work for business accounts. |
| What one PIN covers | Every number on the account | Every number on the account |
| How long it lasts | 4 days | 14 days |
AT&T Prepaid
AT&T Prepaid accounts don't use a Number Transfer PIN. To get your prepaid account number, call AT&T at 800-901-9878, or dial 611 from your AT&T phone. Tonet's form asks for a PIN for wireless numbers, so ask AT&T Prepaid which PIN or passcode to give a new provider.
Turn off Wireless Account Lock
If Wireless Account Lock is on, AT&T won't transfer your number. To turn it off:
- Open the AT&T app on a device that's active on your account.
- Tap the person icon.
- Select Wireless account lock and tap Unlock the account.
Only people with primary or secondary access to the account can turn it off. AT&T emails the primary account holder and texts each number on the account when the lock changes.
Does AT&T charge to port out?
No. AT&T doesn't charge for the Number Transfer PIN or for moving your number.
Keep your AT&T service active until the port finishes
Don't disconnect your AT&T service. If you disconnect it too soon, AT&T has to reactivate the number before the move can finish.

Not ready? Click Save draft and come back later.
After you submit
The Port a Number tab shows where your request is:
Ringing on Tonet. Calls to your number ring in Tonet: browser, apps and desk phones.
You: Call your number to check it rings in Tonet. Only then close anything left with your old carrier.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Submitted | Tonet has your request and checks it before filing it with the carrier. |
| In progress | Your request is being processed. Most ports complete in 7 to 10 business days. |
| More information needed | Read the message under Messages, type your answer in Your reply, attach a file if asked, and click Send reply. The request goes back to In progress. |
| Approved | The numbers appear under My Phone Numbers once the transfer completes. |
| Not approved | Read the Reason for rejection, fix it, and click Edit and resubmit. |
Tonet emails the address in E-mail address when it receives your request (with a copy of the letter you signed), when it needs something from you, and when the request is approved or not approved.
Your number keeps working with AT&T until the switch. The date can't be guaranteed: AT&T decides when the port completes.
When the number appears under My Phone Numbers, choose where its calls go and who can use it.
Why AT&T ports get rejected
| Reason | How to fix it |
|---|---|
| Wireless Account Lock is on | Unlock it in the AT&T app, then resubmit. |
| The PIN expired | PINs last 4 days, or 14 days on a business account. Get a new one and send it to Tonet. |
| You asked AT&T for a new PIN after you submitted | The new PIN cancelled the one Tonet has. Send Tonet the new one. |
| The account passcode was given instead of the PIN | Send the Number Transfer PIN instead. |
| The AT&T service was disconnected | Ask AT&T to reactivate the number, then resubmit. |
| Name, address or account number doesn't match | Copy them from your latest bill, or ask AT&T for your Customer Service Record (CSR). |
To send a new PIN: if the request shows More information needed, send it under Messages. If it shows Not approved, click Edit and resubmit. Otherwise, email support@tonet.ai.
