Move your number from Verizon to Tonet
Get your Verizon Number Transfer PIN (port-out PIN) for a personal or business account, turn off Number Lock, and move your number to Tonet.
To move a Verizon mobile number to Tonet, you need your Verizon account number and a Number Transfer PIN. Turn off Number Lock, get the PIN, then fill in Manage › Phones › Port a Number in Tonet. Keep the Verizon line active until the number has moved.
What you need from Verizon
| You need | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Account number | In My Verizon, open your Profile. It's at the top of the page, and at the top of your paper bill. |
| Number Transfer PIN | Verizon's name for a port-out PIN. See Get your Verizon Number Transfer PIN. |
| Account holder's name and address | Your latest Verizon bill. Copy them exactly as Verizon has them. |
| Your latest bill | It must show the numbers you're moving. You attach it in Tonet. |
Get your Verizon Number Transfer PIN
On a personal account, the Account Owner or an Account Manager gets the PIN. Use any of these:
- My Verizon app or website: go to the Create Your Number Transfer PIN page and select Generate PIN.
- From the phone: dial
#PORTon the phone that has the number, then open the link Verizon texts you. - Verizon Customer Service: call 800-922-0204 if you can't use the app or website.
- A Verizon store.
Good to know:
- The PIN expires after 7 days. Get it right before you submit your port in Tonet.
- One PIN covers every line on the account. You list the numbers to move in Tonet.
- Don't have the phone with the number? Sign in to the My Verizon website on another phone, tablet or computer.
- Verizon never asks you for this PIN. Give it only to Tonet.
Verizon's help page describes the PIN for standard monthly accounts. If your line is prepaid, ask Verizon how to get one.
Get a PIN for a Verizon business account
Business accounts work differently: each line has its own PIN.
| Personal account | Business account | |
|---|---|---|
| Who can get the PIN | Account Owner or Account Manager | My Business Primary Contact or Administrator |
| Where | My Verizon, #PORT, 800-922-0204, or a store | My Business Wireless |
| What one PIN covers | Every line on the account | One line |
| How long it lasts | 7 days | 7 days |
To get a business PIN, sign in to My Business Wireless and go to Search/Select Line › Line Overview › Device Information › Number Transfer PIN, then click Generate PIN. Verizon texts the PIN to that line's phone and emails it to you.
- You can generate up to 5 PINs per line in one day.
- Once you've given a PIN to Tonet, don't generate a new one for that line. Verizon says it can interfere with the port.
- Moving 10 or more lines at once? Call Verizon at 1-800-922-0204.
Turn off Number Lock
Number Lock blocks a number from moving to another carrier. While it's on, you can't get a Number Transfer PIN.
To turn it off, dial *611, or in My Verizon:
- Open Number Lock on your Security page.
- Select Off next to each number you're moving.
- Enter the security code Verizon sends you.
- Click Save Changes.
On a business account, check Number Lock in My Business and turn it off there.
Does Verizon charge to port out?
Verizon doesn't charge a fee to move a number. You may still owe:
- An early termination fee, if the line's minimum contract term isn't finished.
- Any device payment balance left on the line.
- Promotional discounts you received, if you agreed to a minimum term and leave early. Verizon caps this at 6 months of discounts.
Moving your last phone line? Cancel any connected lines, like a smartwatch, tablet or hotspot, or Verizon keeps charging for them.
Keep the Verizon line active until the port finishes
Don't cancel or disconnect the line. If you do, Verizon has to reactivate it before the number can move. When the move completes, the Verizon line is disconnected as part of the move.
Move the number to Tonet

Moving several lines from a Verizon business account? Each line has its own PIN. Put one in Account PIN / passcode, then list each other number with its PIN under Additional information.
Put every Verizon number you're moving in one request. Tonet handles one port request at a time. Once it's approved, click Port another number to start the next.
Not ready? Click Save draft and come back later.
After you submit
The Port a Number tab shows where your request is:
Ringing on Tonet. Calls to your number ring in Tonet: browser, apps and desk phones.
You: Call your number to check it rings in Tonet. Only then close anything left with your old carrier.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Submitted | Tonet has your request and checks it before filing it with the carrier. |
| In progress | Your request is being processed. Most ports complete in 7 to 10 business days. |
| More information needed | Read the message under Messages, type your answer in Your reply, attach a file if asked, and click Send reply. The request goes back to In progress. |
| Approved | The numbers appear under My Phone Numbers once the transfer completes. |
| Not approved | Read the Reason for rejection, fix it, and click Edit and resubmit. |
Tonet emails the address in E-mail address when it receives your request (with a copy of the letter you signed), when it needs something from you, and when the request is approved or not approved.
Your number keeps working with Verizon until the switch. The date can't be guaranteed: Verizon decides when the port completes.
When the number appears under My Phone Numbers, choose where its calls go and who can use it.
Why Verizon ports get rejected

|---|---|
| Number Lock is on | Turn it off, then resubmit. |
| The PIN expired | PINs last 7 days. Get a new one and send it to Tonet. |
| A business line's PIN was used for a different line | Each business PIN works only for the line it was made for. Send the right PIN for each number. |
| The line was disconnected | Ask Verizon to reactivate it, then resubmit. |
| Name, address or account number doesn't match | Copy them from your latest bill, or ask Verizon for your Customer Service Record (CSR). |
To send a new PIN: if the request shows More information needed, send it under Messages. If it shows Not approved, click Edit and resubmit. Otherwise, email support@tonet.ai.
