How to port out of Vonage Business to Tonet: your account number, the PIN to enter, setting a cancellation date after the port, and the steps.

Last updated on

To move a Vonage Business number to Tonet, you need your Vonage account number and the account name and company address exactly as Vonage has them. Vonage doesn't use a port-out PIN. If a PIN is asked for, Vonage says to enter any 4-digit number. Then fill in Manage › Phones › Port a Number in Tonet. Porting doesn't cancel your Vonage account, and numbers can't move once it's cancelled, so keep it open until the port finishes.

Is there a port-out lock?

Vonage doesn't describe one. It has no port-out PIN.

Does Vonage charge to port out?

Vonage's port-out steps for Vonage Business don't list a port-out fee. If the transfer happens before your term contract ends, cancellation fees may apply. The Admin Portal shows any fee when you pick a cancellation date.

Keep your Vonage account until the port finishes

Porting a number out doesn't cancel your Vonage Business account. To end it, Vonage has you request cancellation and pick a date in the future:

  1. Request cancellation. Only Super Users and Account Administrators can. If you signed up online, you can do it in the Admin Portal under Account Details. Otherwise, contact Vonage Business Support.
  2. In the Admin Portal, pick a cancellation date after the port is likely to finish. Most ports take 7 to 10 business days.
  3. Watch the port. If it hasn't finished as the date gets close, move the date later in the Admin Portal.

Good to know:

  • Numbers can't transfer once a Vonage account is cancelled.
  • Cancellation dates line up with your billing date.
  • If the port finishes first, your services end on the date you picked.
  • Vonage isn't always told when a number moves, so don't count on the account closing by itself.

Moving a Vonage home phone number? Vonage says there's no charge to transfer a number away, and that some carriers require the account to be active, so keep it until the port finishes. Ask Vonage which account number and PIN to give, and pick Residential in Tonet's form.
