Tonet for Android: set up business calls on your phone

Install Tonet on Android, turn on Unrestricted Battery and Full-Screen Calls so calls ring when the app is closed, and fix a phone that doesn't ring.

Tonet for Android rings with a full-screen call, on the lock screen too, even when the app is closed. It needs Android 11 or later.

Set it up

Install Tonet from Google Play. It's free.

Sign in with your dashboard Email and Password, then tap Login. No password because you use Google? Tap Forgot password? to set one first.

Allow what it asks for:

PermissionWhy Tonet needs it
MicrophoneRequired to make and receive phone calls
NotificationsAlerts you to incoming calls and messages
ContactsShows names for incoming calls and messages

Turn on the two Android settings calls need. Open Profile and tap Permissions. Tap each of these and allow it:

PermissionWhat it does
Unrestricted BatteryAllows incoming calls when app is closed. Without it, Android can hold calls back to save battery.
Full-Screen CallsShows incoming calls on the lock screen

Check it worked. Every line in Profile › Permissions should be on. Lock the phone and have someone call your extension.

Taking calls

An incoming call fills the screen with the caller's name, is calling, and Answer and Reject. On an unlocked phone it shows as a notification with the same buttons.

  • Missed calls and new texts show as notifications. Tap one to open it.
  • Calls are in Home › call history in Tonet, and in Calls in the dashboard.
  • Photos you open in a conversation have a Save button that saves them to your gallery.

If your phone doesn't ring

Work down this list:

  1. Is the app signed in? Open Tonet. If you see the login screen, sign in again.
  2. Check Permissions. Profile › Permissions. Unrestricted Battery and Full-Screen Calls matter most. Tap anything that isn't on.
  3. Check your phone's own battery saver. Some phones, like Samsung, Xiaomi and OnePlus, put apps to sleep on top of Android's own setting. In your phone's Settings, find Tonet under Apps › Battery and set it to Unrestricted (or No restrictions). Take it off any list of sleeping apps.
  4. Check Do Not Disturb. If it's on, add Tonet to the apps allowed to interrupt, or turn it off.
  5. Check the top of the Home screen. An icon there means no internet or the phone service isn't connected.
  6. Is your line full? Your line rings on up to 3 devices. See one line on up to three devices.
  7. Does the call reach you at all? If calls to your number go to a team or a menu, make sure you're in that team. See where calls go.

Still not ringing? Sign out (Profile › Logout), sign back in, and try again. Then contact support with your extension and the time of the call.
