Tonet for iPhone: set up business calls on your iPhone

Install Tonet on your iPhone, allow the microphone and notifications, and take business calls on the lock screen. Fixes for an iPhone that doesn't ring.

Last updated on

Tonet for iPhone rings like a normal phone call, on the lock screen too, even when the app is closed. It needs iOS 15.4 or later.

Set it up

Install Tonet from the App Store. It's free, from Tonet LLC.

Sign in with your dashboard Email and Password, then tap Login. No password because you use Google? Tap Forgot password? to set one first.

Allow what it asks for. Tap Allow for each:

PermissionWhy Tonet needs it
MicrophoneRequired to make and receive phone calls
NotificationsAlerts you to incoming calls and messages
ContactsShows names for incoming calls and messages

iOS may also ask about the camera. Calling uses the same system as video calls, so iOS asks. Tonet doesn't use your camera.

Check it worked. Open Profile and tap Permissions: each one should be on. Tap one that isn't to fix it. Then have someone call your extension.

Taking calls

A call shows on the iPhone's own call screen, so you answer it the way you answer any call: slide on the lock screen, or tap the green button.

  • The caller shows as their name, then → and the business number they called. You can tell a call to your main line from a call to your direct number.
  • Answer with AirPods or in the car the same way you do other calls.
  • Tonet calls don't go in the iPhone's Recents. They're under Home › call history in Tonet, and in Calls in the dashboard.
  • Missed calls and new texts show as notifications. Tap one to open it.

If your iPhone doesn't ring

Work down this list:

  1. Is the app signed in? Open Tonet. If you see the login screen, sign in again.
  2. Check the top of the Home screen. An icon there means no internet or the phone service isn't connected. Wait a moment on Wi-Fi or mobile data.
  3. Check Permissions. Profile › Permissions. Tap anything that isn't on.
  4. Check Focus. A Focus like Do Not Disturb or Sleep silences calls from apps. Add Tonet to the Focus's allowed apps in Settings › Focus, or turn the Focus off.
  5. Check iPhone notifications. Settings › Notifications › Tonet: Allow Notifications on.
  6. Is your line full? Your line rings on up to 3 devices. If the dashboard says the line is full, sign out of Tonet somewhere you don't use it. See one line on up to three devices.
  7. Does the call reach you at all? If calls to your number go to a team or a menu, make sure you're in that team. See where calls go.

Still not ringing? Sign out (Profile › Logout), sign back in, and try again. Then contact support with your extension and the time of the call.
